The District of Columbia

This morning, the remnants of Hurricane Ida had finally left the mid Atlantic. We woke up early in Largo Maryland. Today, I was all packed and ready to go, so we had breakfast with cousin Deborah and then went for a brief walk in her neighborhood before heading to the District for brunch. The Redskins fans were already rolling in to tailgate for the Sunday game. Maryland drivers stink!

With the Tom Tom on hand, we got in the car and headed to 13th and Pennsylvania ave to meet Julie K for brunch. Parking stinks in the district, but eventually, we found something. We dined at a very healthy (read: crunchy--that was Julie's word for it) bakery where I had a very strange black tea that had a strong smokey smell and taste. The food was excellent though. After brunch, we hit the open air market where they sold anything and everything that one would need. Frances and I picked up a gift for her meme, a yankee swap gift, and a very cute pair of lady bug shoes for little missy.

After brunch, we hit the road headed for Chapel Hill, NC. We took off at 3 and got in to town around 9pm. F insisted on stopping twice...and I obliged. All in all it was a good trip. Kai and Juli had pizza waiting for us when we arrived...very nice.
